All Four WEU Teams Cover The Top 4, Winner Is Decided Tomorrow - Bali Major Day 4

News
Published at: 2023-07-08 15:52:00

Four Western Europe teams arrived in Bali to represent their region: Team Liquid, Tundra Esports, Gaimin Gladiators, and Quest Esports. All four of these teams make it to the top four of the Bali Major, confirming that Western Europe is the strongest region in Dota 2 by far.

On Day 4, three of the remaining six teams face elimination, while the survivors of the day will compete on the final day of the Bali Major on the 9th of July.

Team Liquid vs. 9 Pandas

The day started with Team Liquid facing off against 9 Pandas, EEU’s last hope in the Bali Major. 9 Pandas could take the first map of the series convincingly, but Team Liquid stomped them in the next two games, completing the reverse sweep. 9 Pandas are the first team to be eliminated on Day 4, with a respectable 5-6th place finish.

PSG.LGD vs. Quest Esports

The second course of the day was PSG.LGD against Quest Esports. Quest Esports easily won the first game, but PSG.LGD bounced back on Game 2 with a 13,000 net worth lead at 43 minutes. Despite being up in gold, Quest Esports could still make a comeback off the back of TA2000’s Morphling to send PSG.LGD home 2-0. Despite it being Quest’s first LAN event together, the squad secured a Top 4 finish here at Bali.

Tundra Esports vs. Gaimin Gladiators

Tundra Esports and Gaimin Gladiators met at the Upper Bracket Final, and the matchup winner advanced to the Grand Final. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a spicy series in this anticipated matchup, as the Gladiators cleaned up the series 2-0 with no issues at all. Tundra has exceeded expectations playing with their coach as a stand-in, but their journey at Bali isn’t done yet, as they will play again on Day 5. Gaimin Gladiators make it to their third Major Grand Final in a row, looking to perform a three-peat.

Quest Esports vs. Team Liquid

Quest Esports and Team Liquid played for the second time in an elimination game to close out the day, which ended up being a very exciting series. Both teams traded maps, and it all came down to Game 3 to decide who would stay and leave. Quest looked strong in Game 3, taking the lead throughout Mid Game.

However, the lack of on-stage experience began to show, and Quest made multiple mistakes that Team Liquid quickly capitalized on. In the end, Team Liquid turned the game around and sent Quest Esports home. This loss for Quest Esports meant they wouldn’t receive a direct invite to The International and would have to fight through the regional qualifiers. Still, if Quest can maintain the form they are playing in, we can easily expect them to dominate the regional qualifiers.

The three teams to participate in the Final Day of the Bali Major are Team Liquid, Tundra Esports, and Gaimin Gladiators.
