Bali Major Groups - Day 4 Results

News
Published at: 2023-07-02 11:55:00

Three teams have secured their spot in the Upper Bracket after the conclusion of Day 4 of the Bali Major, and one team has been eliminated already. If you missed the Dota action, here’s all you need to know about the fourth day of the Major.

Group A

So far in Group A, only one thing has been set in stone: Team Liquid secured their spot in the top four of the group. Their top-four finish in Group A will allow the Western European squad to start the playoffs in the Upper Bracket.

The remaining three Upper Bracket spots remain highly contested, as Beastcoast, Team Aster, and Tundra Esports have the same score of nine points. Team Spirit is tailing right behind the three teams with eight points and is 100% safe from an early exit in the group stage.

Meanwhile, the four remaining teams are fighting for their survival in the tournament, with only one going through. Shopify Rebellion has completed all eight group-stage matches and will have a maximum of six points.

The three teams at the bottom, Invictus Gaming, Execration, and Blacklist International, have similar standings of 4-10, with one best-of-2 series remaining. These three teams must win their final series 2-0 to put themselves at six points and force a tiebreaker against Shopify Rebellion.

The most exciting part is that Invictus Gaming and Blacklist International will face each other for their final series. Either team must win 2-0, or a draw will automatically eliminate both teams.

Group B

Western Europe is clearly the strongest region, as both representatives in Group B have also guaranteed their Upper Bracket slot. Quest Esports has a 12-2 record, while Gaimin Gladiators sit 10-4.

Unfortunately, we will say goodbye to Evil Geniuses as the first team to be eliminated. The South American team had a solid year before this event, but they couldn’t get anything going and will be flying back home early.

PSG.LGD and BetBoom Team are tied with eight points for third and fourth place and will look to join Quest Esports and Gaimin Gladiators in the upper bracket spot. However, their top four finish won’t come easy, as both PSG.LGD and BetBoom will face the number one and two seeds in their final group stage series.

BLEED Esports have made a remarkable comeback from their weak start to the tournament. The Southeast Asian roster started the tournament 0-4 and is now 7-7 after pulling off an incredible 2-0 upset against BetBoom. However, they aren’t safe yet and will have to win their final series against 9 Pandas to guarantee their playoff run. They are Southeast Asia’s last hope in the SEA Major if Execration and/or Blacklist International don’t make it out of Group A.

9 Pandas, Nouns, and Azure Ray sit in an uncomfortable position as the continuation of their journey in Bali has yet to be confirmed. They are sitting in 6th to 8th place and will play must-win matches on Day 5.

Games To Watch

Here are our top picks for games to watch on Day 4 of the Bali Major.

Nouns vs. Gaimin Gladiators - Game 1

Despite being heavy underdogs, the North American roster put up a great fight against the best team in the world in Game 1 of their Best of 2 series.

The game remained extremely close until the 50-minute mark, when the Gladiators could finally pull ahead. However, they couldn’t end the game so quickly, and it went past 60 minutes.

With Tier 5 items in the mix, Gaimin Gladiators were finally able to close out the game 69 minutes in, denying the upset.

Shopify Rebellion vs. Team Spirit - Game 1

With Arteezy and his crew failing to get many wins in the first three days, every remaining series on the fourth day was crucial for their survival in the Major. However, Team Spirit weren’t opponents who would give them free wins.

Team Spirit took early control of the game, with a 6,000 gold lead at 20 minutes. However, Shopify Rebellion turned the game around, gaining a 10,000 net worth advantage in the 31st minute.

The game continued to be very back-and-forth, but the Eastern European team pulled off the win in a very action-packed game.
